Steamline your cookie process with batch working.

Are you looking for ways to streamline your cookie-making process and make your life a little easier?

If so, you should definitely consider batch working, seriously its a game changer, once your start you will wonder why you ever did it any other way.

Step 1: Bake Cookies

The first step in batch working is to bake all your cookies for the week. You can make multiple batches of cookies at once, which will save you time in the long run. I like to do this at the beginning of my week and if I’m concerned about freshness I’ll just pop the baked cookies into the freezer and then just take them out the morning I plan to decorate. To save even more time, you can prep your baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat ahead of time, so they're ready to go when you're ready to bake.

Step 2: Prep Icing

While your cookies are baking, you can use this time to prep your icing. You can mix up a big batch of icing, and then divide it into smaller bowls to add different flavors if needed. For mixing icing colors I like to use the 1 bowl method where you start with your lightest colors first and finish with your darkest colors last. This allows you to mix all your colors in one bowl without having to wash 10 different bowls in 10 different colors…. it genius… if you don’t know what this method is google it … like right now.. you will thank me later! This step will save you time because you won't have to stop and mix up icing between each order and if you have multiple orders that week a lot of times you’ll have the same color in multiple orders.

Step 3: Decorate

Once your cookies have cooled (or defrosted), it's time to decorate them! This is where your prepped icing comes in handy. I like to do the base coats for all my orders first and then do the detail work second. I like to think it helps lock in the moisture in my cookies. ( I have no scientific evidence of this LOL its just a gut feeling).

So what are the benefits of batch working?

Batch working has many benefits for your cookie business. First and foremost, it saves you time. By baking multiple batches of cookies at once, you can complete more orders in less time. It also promotes consistency, as you're using the same recipe and techniques each time. And let's not forget, batch working reduces the number of dishes you have to do, which is always a win!

Give it a try and see how much it can improve your workflow and the quality of your cookies.

Happy baking!
